An introduction to the thrills of rallying
Taster Rally Experience
Price: £90 for one or £175 for two
When: Tuesday's & Saturday's
Enjoy approximately 2 1/2 hours at our venue and experience an introduction to the thrills of rallying where you will have the opportunity to drive at high speed on a loose surface in two of our fully prepared rally cars; one front wheel drive and one rear wheel drive. You will share your rally experience with other drivers on the day.
Your arrival at the rally school
On arrival, you will meet the staff and instructors. You and your spectators will be asked to sign on. You will then attend a short welcome talk from the instructors who will give you a short safety briefing.
Your Rally Experience
You will be provided with a helmet and will then get in to the driving seat of the first of the two rally cars. You will be strapped in to the seat via a full safety harness with the help of a member of staff.
The instructor will introduce you to the key features and controls of the car and will talk you through what skills you will be taught out on the track. The bulk of the tuition is carried out in the car so you can get the most amount of time in the car. An intercom system is built in to the car to enable you to talk to the instructor as you drive.
Then, the moment you've been waiting for, driving the car on the track. The first lap will be used for you to familiarise yourself with the track. You will then have another 2 laps in this car of the 1 1/2 mile stage negotiating your way through cones and tyres at high speed. You will experience power slides and handbrake turns. After you have finished, the instructor will fill out a score sheet, rating your performance in the rally car.
You will then have a break before your session of 3 laps in the second car.
Demonstration Laps
Once all the driving sessions are complete, you will be strapped in to the passenger seat while the instructor gets their own back! You will experience a white knuckle ride on a "hot lap" with the instructor driving.
If time allows, your spectators will have the opportunity to experience a high speed demonstration lap for £10 in one of our 2 wheel drive rally cars.
Also, if time permits, the rally school has a Mitsubishi Evolution IV, a group A rally car which is also available for a white knuckle ride. For £25, drivers and spectators can have this experience.
Profits from the demonstration laps go towards the East Anglian Air Ambulance; the charity which we support.
After the action has finished
Once the hot rides have finished, you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire to give us feedback on your driving experience. The instructors will then give you a short debriefing and will hand out your certificates and score sheets.
On most days, a photographer is onsite and will be available at the end of the session to purchase photos from.
