A little bit about our history
Tony Clark, purchased Langley Lawn Farm, Essex on 5/11/1957 where he bought up his three children including LPRS owner Simon. Not only did his son Simon follow in his farming foot steps, his love of driving tractors encouraged him to take up the hobby of driving. As soon as he reached 17 he was competing in HotRods competitions in a Mini Cooper S and very soon after moved into rally cars. He started in a Mark II Escort RS 1800. He continued with many successes in rallying finishing in an Evo 8.
In 2001 Simon wanted to diversify from the farming and as he had enjoyed and been so successful with rallying, he decided to set up his own rally school and left his brother Andrew to carry on with the farm.
Langley Park Rally School is now in its 15th year and hasn't stopped growing! It started off teaching 10 members of the public per day rallying skills around a half mile gravel rally stage. These days they teach 80 people per day similar rally skills in more advanced ex works cars around a mile and a half gravel stage. They also teach juniors from as young as 8 years old and cater for all types of corporate entertainment.
Once Simon had son Tom it was clear that he too was going to be involved in rallying, he had a natural aptitude for driving and was keen to carry it on. As like most professional racing drivers, Tom started off in karting. With his father owning Langley Park, this is where his passion for rallying truly began. At an early age he was out in a rally car practicing.
First step was Autocross where Tom competed in a Peugeot 205 1400cc in the junior section, he started doing this at the age of 14 winning all titles that he could possibly win.
Next step (2008-2009) was out to Latvia for 2 years in a Suzuki Swift Sport 1600 where he became Lativan Junior Champion.
In 2010 Tom entered the British Rally Championship where at the end of the season he had been selected for a Pirelli Star Drive and won the Suzuki Sport Cup Championship.
Tom then competed in the British Rally Championship in a TEG Sport Subaru.
For the last couple of years Tom has left rallying events on the back burner whilst working on developing the Rally School to not only to showcase his skills but to allow customers to drive a variety of top spec rally cars which he maintains himself.
In May 2016 he took part in the Famous Irish Rally - Rally of the Lakes in Mr John Leahy's Ex Works Talbot Sunbeam Lotus which was driven by the famous rally driver Mr Russell Brookes. The event was part of the Irish Tarmac Championship & he managed to take 3rd Overall in the Historic Category.
